The International Specialized Exhibition EXPO-2017 was between June 10, 2017 and September 10, 2017 in Astana. The theme of EXPO-2017 was “Future Energy”. Its main task was to attract the public attention to the problem of reasonable energy consumption and substitution of exhaustible energy sources with innovative sources that are inexhaustible.

The main building of EXPO-2017 was the National Pavilion of Kazakhstan, called “Nur Alem”, which is constructed in the form of a sphere with the use of the most advanced technologies.

Nur Alem Mobile Application is developed to be used by the visitors of the “Nur Alem”. It serves interests and needs of visitors with technologies such as iBeacon (Bluetooth low energy proximity sensing) and AR (Augmented Reality).

            The Nur Alem Application also provides users detail information about exhibitions and events.

            Visitors can watch custom AR animations designed for the “Nur Alem” by looking special markers by using their mobile devices.

There was three different AR animation in Nur Alem application. Those are;

• Sphere Based ARs,

• Exclusive ARs,

• Directional ARs.

 

For each AR a special marker is designed. These markers are used as reference point for AR’s. Mobile application also gives ability to users to take picture and video of a person with the AR animations. Sample pictures are shown below.
